Jan 23, 2006 · Everytime I start my car, I cringe when it goes that high. Most of my cars in the past go to 2000 rpms, but never one that went to 2500 rpms. However, I think that my grandpa's 90' Mazda goes this high.

So when it's cold and I start the engine, the revs goes down to just before the car dies and then rapidly goes up to about 2000 rpm then down to just before it dies again and repeats this until car is warmer then it's a bit more stable but still moves up and down a little bit.

Sep 20, 2007 · There is one problem on it. The car often vibrates when starts moving from 1st gear. When stopped with neutral gear, the idle is 950 rpm. With AC off, I have to press gas predal to get 1700 rpm then the car can move without vibration. With AC on, I need 2000 rpm for a smooth start from gear 1. As long as the car is moving, there is no problem ...

Apr 04, 2005 · I turn the car off and start it again. Starts at over 2000 RPM, and settles down a little lower (1900 RPM?) within a couple of seconds. I give the car a little gas and it still settles at the same point. I drive around the parking lot for a little bit. Stall speed is still around the 1000 RPM mark, but the car is still starting up at 2000 RPM.
It really starts gaining speed. Then say I need to stop at a red light. I'll put my foot on the brake, and the RPM will jump from a little over 1000 to 2000 before going back down. While driving, the RPM and temperature gage are normal, although I imagine if I left my car in park, it would rev up high and it would get much hotter.
